Madagascar Links

These links contain basic information about Madagascar – perhaps interesting to some, as even at the Cape Town airport, the woman checking me in saw that my ticket said Antananarivo, and said, “Where is this place?”

Excellent Environment/Wildlife Site – Has lots of fun multimedia info including video clips, audio clips, and lots of photos

FCE Railway – Vitally important to the food security (and thus forest corridor preservation) of those living between Fianarantsoa and Manakara, this railway can transport food, other products, and tourists.

Fianarantsoa Weather - In case you feel like seeing how warm it is here when it starts to snow chez vous.

CIA World Factbook Madagascar – Hopefully humanely obtained, this site contains general demographic/geographic infomation about the country.

Lonely Planet Madagascar – Decent place to start if planning a trip here.  Although, getting ahold of the book would be a better place to start.

USAID Madagascar – For those of you interested in the Development field, here’s what USAID’s got going on here.

World Monuments Watch Fianarantsoa – The Old City of Fianarantsoa (where I’m living) has been classified by World Monuments Watch as one of the 100 most endangered heritage sites.  For more information about how you can help or to donate to the Project to Save the Old City, please email Karen Freudenberger at freudenberger@moov.mg.
